Ja ja jullie lezen het goed! Het begon woensdagmiddag met een heuse aardbeving (5.5 op de schaal van Richter). Het epic centrum scheen bij Quebec te liggen maar wij voelden alles ook trillen! Maar dat was nog niet alles….Lees meer

De bewegende aardbodem rond half 2 in de middag was het gesprek van de dag. Op het werk had iedereen het er over en elke klant die binnen kwam vroeg belangstellend of wij het ook gevoeld hadden. Maar zoals gezegd er was meer… Rond half 7 die avond reden brandweerwagens, politie en ambulances aan de lopende band langs het werk. We vroegen ons af wat er gaande was en we dachten aan een serieus ongeluk maar hadden geen idee. Toen ik om 19.00 uur in de auto stapte om van mijn werk naar huis te rijden werd al heel snel duidelijk wat er aan de hand was. Een tornado had on half 7 een bezoek gebracht aan Midland. Op de radio waren allemaal mensen die verslag deden van wat ze gezien hadden. Het klonk allemaal heel onwerkelijk. Wegen afgesloten overal bomen op de weg, muren weggeslagen, een heel trailerpark verwoest (70 mega grote stacaravans) mensen hadden gewoon gezien dat de tornado een trailer oppakte en 10 meter verder neer smeet. De weg was overal geblokkeerd en ik heb via allemaal achteraf wegen thuis moeten komen. Een aantal keren in de file gestaan (ik dacht dat ik het woord file niet meer zou hoeven gebruiken…) Thuisi gekomen lag de stroom er natuurlijk af aangezien de kabels overal op de weg lagen. Kortom woensdag vroeg in bed. Donderdag nog geen stroom, generator geleend van de buren zodat de koelkast aan kon blijven en de telefoon + radio er op aangesloten. Er werd hard gewerkt om iedereen weer te voorzien van stroom voor 8 uur s’avonds. Onderweg naar mijn werk werd duidelijk dat de tornado over een smalle strook van west naar oost over midland was getrokken. Gelukkig aan de rand van het dorp. Er schijnen op youtube video’s te staan: google maar op youtube tornado midland. Mijn vriendin woont ook in het gebied waar de tornado overheen was geraasd. Tornado was zo’n 100 meter breed en was precies tussen haar huis en het van de buren door gegaan, over geluk gesproken! Heel indrukwekkend. Schade wordt geschat op ruim 15 miljoen.

Verder gaat het hier uitstekend. Lynn heeft afgelopen maandag net nadat ze 11 manden oud is geworden besloten dat los lopen ook heel leuk is. Ze was al een tijdje rond de tafel aan het stappen en van de tafel naar de bank maar nu loopt ze ook los. Ze stapt wel rond als een dronken dametje maar ze heeft heel veel lol. Ze begint al te schateren als ze de eerste stap zet. Vallen is eigenlijk nog leuker.... Onderaan dit verslag de laatste foto’s van onze spruit. Voor de mensen die cijfertjes willen: 11,5 kilo en 80 cm lang.

Het bezoek van oma Jenni in mei was uiteraard ook heel leuk. Oma heeft veel opgepast en Lynn leren zwaaien en nee schudden. Nu is dat laatste niet altijd even handig want als wij nee zeggen begint Lynn te lachen en met haar hoofd te schudden…….Lynn heeft ook veel plezier met onze hondjes. Met het mooie weer is Lynn veel buiten en als zij op het gras kruipt gaan de hondjes er gezellig bij liggen.

De lente die als zomer aanvoelde is over en nu is dan de zomer begonnen. Het is hier warm maar de afgelopen dagen was het ook vochtig. Kortom schitterend weer voor onkruid. In de groentetuin groeit naast het onkruid ook alle gezaaide groenten letterlijk en figuurlijk als kool. Het aardbeienseizoen is nagenoeg over maar we hebben weer heel wat kilo’s in de diepvries liggen. Lynn is ook een liefhebber…zie onderstaande foto’s.

Lynn is ook bezig haar koffertje te pakken aangezien ze maandag 28 juni met papa naar Nederland vliegt….Ja ja ons dametje gaat alweer op reis. Lynn en Bart gaan 2 weken naar Nederland. Hoofdreden: Fiji gaat gedekt worden door een knappe belgische reu. Dit keer dus de eer aan Bart om te pronken met de Nagel telg. Eerst maandag even voetbal kijken en dan op na het vliegtuig. Als Nederland een beetje zijn best doet dan kan Bart het vervolg van het WK in Nederland kijken.
